Happy July : 5 bits & bobs that make me smile
July 12, 2015
1. Life’s a beach
The sun has come out and summer is here at last! We’ve just got back from our week in Wales, having spent seven days in a cottage by the sea. Safe to say fish & chips, prosecco and plenty of picnics have been enjoyed, alongside walks on the beach with evening campfires.
Before setting off I whipped up a particularly tasty Goats Cheese Tart, using some fantastic products courtesy of St. Helens Farm. I filled a shortcrust tart case with pesto, cooked chicken, roasted red peppers & spreadable goats cheese, topped with a further helping of hard goats cheese. Baked in the oven for 30 minutes the tart tastes much better than it looks (Despite significant charring from my over enthusiastic oven)
2. Jurassic Jewellery
A necklace doesn’t have to be pricey to be precious, and this little fella from Ji Ji Kiki is quirky and cute. Hubby-to-be and I both bonded over a shared love of Jurassic Park when we first met so I was excited to see this tiny silver diplodocus featured in their new collection.
Ji Ji Kiki have a great range of pieces which are just a little bit different, and their jewellery is perfect for adding personality to any outfit. I love the simplicity of their silver charms, but I definitely have an eye on a few other little numbers….. how many days till payday?
3. Sprucing up my skin
Days spent in the sun and smoky campfires have taken their toll on my skin, so I was keen to try out some samples sent to me from Nourish.
A true multi-tasker their new Kale Enzymatic Exfoliating Cleanser can be used as a cleanser or a mask, easily scrubbing away the seaside damage. With our wedding on the horizon I’ve never been more keen to sort out my skin, fingers crossed I’ll be a blushing but blemish free bride!
4. Slipping into summer with my Weird Fish Dress
Alongside Jane Plan I’ve also followed an exercise plan from DW Fitness, and the pounds have slipped away in time for summer. My Weird Fish dress has zipped up with ease, and has actually become a little on the roomy side.
Ideal for summer days it’s the perfect holiday dress. The cotton fabric kept me cool in the surprisingly hot Welsh Sun, and the shift dress design kept the sun from my pale & easily burnt shoulders. It’s a great length for us taller girls, skimming the knees and stopping flesh from being flashed on a breezy beach.
5. Five months to go!
Its just five months to go, and the countdown is well and truly on. We had a fantastic warm-up shoot with our lovely wedding photographer Jules Fortune, and I’ll reveal the photos in my upcoming Wedding Wednesday post. But for now heres a sneak peek….
