Well such a lot has changed in one short month! Since writing the bedroom edition of ‘3 Interior Finds to Swoon Over’ we’ve had an offer accepted on a very cute cottage and we now have everything crossed that the survey will come back issue-free.
We were all set to wait until after the wedding, but we stumbled across a property we just couldn’t help but view. One thing led to another, and while it needs a huge amount to work we’re hoping that it’s ‘The One’ and that we’ll be packing our moving boxes in six short weeks.
Our bedroom has never been a thing of beauty, more a mish mash of mis-matching furniture. Our bed is very low to the ground, and I can’t wait to replace it with something with a little more height. Beautifully opulent this Sleigh Bed from the French Bedroom company is simply stunning, it screams grownup rather than student, and I firmly believe that it would inspire hubby-to-be to bring me a breakfast tray with freshly squeezed orange juice every Sunday…… (Please don’t shatter this illusion, a girl can dream)
This is a bit of an embarrassing revelation, but I currently get ready for the day sat on the floor at the base of a full length mirror. For years I have dreamt of a proper dressing table with a place for everything, and in our new house I am determined my vision will become reality. This Rose Dressing Table from John Lewis would mean no more make-up scattered on the floor, and would be the perfect match for the Sleigh bed above.
A dressing table isn’t complete without a mirror, and to continue our celebration of sophistication any of these beautiful pieces from Next would add a further flourish, encouraging decadence with a single glance. Would it be possible to have a bad hair day with such a stylishly framed reflection?
My dream bedroom seems to be a rebellion against my usual interior design aspirations, celebrating curves and flourishes where I’d normally look for clean lines. I’ve embraced the fairy tale look, perhaps becoming the princess too sensitive to sleep on a pea!
Saying that though I think the bedroom should be a little different, becoming a private refuge where you can shake off the trials and tribulations of the day. If a little Parisian glamour helps you achieve that, then it’s a job well done!
As usual Pinterest is a huge source of inspiration for me, have a flick through for a touch of French finesse….
