This year our Christmas shopping has been planned with military precision. Our wedding is just two days away now so I’m both pleased and relieved to say all our gifts are wrapped and under the tree, ready and waiting for our return from honeymoon on Christmas eve.
For those still searching for inspiration I’ve created a whistle stop guide to help out with every eventuality. Happy searching everyone!
I have to admit I find women easier to buy for, and I firmly believe you can’t go wrong with lovely bath products.
Perfect for those who enjoy fruity flavours, the Café de Bain range is available from Superdrug. Inspired by and titled with quirky French patisserie references, each and every product from the range sounds simply delicious. I had the pleasure of trying out their raspberry and rose collection, and loved it.
For those looking for a luxury, Olverum bath oil is ideal for unwinding. Decribed as ‘Bath Nirvana’ a bottle would be the perfect gift for stressed family members who should be taking time to relax over the Christmas break. Containing ten essential oils, Olverum is formulated to help ease tired muscles and aid a great nights sleep.
For members of the family who would prefer to be out on the town than staying in taking a bath, the Trevor Sorbie Multi Wand is simply brilliant. I’ve been sent one to try out (Full review to follow…) and I really can’t speak highly enough of this new gadget.
Three styling tools in one, the wand makes it incredibly easy to create different styles of curls, from natural waves to bouncy ringlets. The ceramic barrels ensure a smooth rather than frazzled finish, and quite honestly I don’t know how I’ve lived without it. Ideal for friends or family, I’d recommend adding this to your own Christmas list as well.
I find men hugely difficult to buy for, so this year I’ve decided to go down a more practical route. There are some handy shaving kits available. with some great moisturising products to add to their routine.
A really well-known brand, Gillette have some great gift packs available which feature their proglide flexball razor. The sets also include shaving gel, and can be found in Boots or Tesco. I’d also recommend hunting down their ‘3 in 1 Instant Moisturiser’ to add to any gift. Husband-to-be put it through its paces, and it passed his morning routine test with flying colours.
For those looking for stocking fillers you really couldn’t go wrong with the range of offer from the Real Shaving Company. Leaving you change from five pounds, their range is perfect for adding a little something for them to open.
The branding is smart and understated, with a selection of creams, gels and balms available. Husband-to-be tried out their Super 8 Balm and Super Slide Shave Gel, and they’ve definately found a new fan! More importantly they look particularly smart on our bathroom shelf… definitely a great alternative to the vast range of mis-matched Star Wars bath paraphernalia available at the moment!
For a couple…
A bit of an extension of for him and her, I’m a big fan of a matching set, and this pair of travel bags would be perfect for when you’re off on your travels. These two Arran Aromatics Bath & Body gift sets come in fabric zip bags, with beautifully scented mini toiletries inside each one.
Perfect for a couple with an exciting holiday in the new year, this would be ideal gift to send them on their way.
It was only a few years ago that the balsamic and oil duo was the foodie gift of choice, with almost every home sporting one or two quirkily shaped infused bottles filled with chillies or rosemary. Rather dated now its nice to see something altogether more modern on offer from Borderfields.
Premium cold pressed rapeseed oil, the gift packs include lemon, chilli and garlic flavours, promising to add some extra flavour to your festive favourites.
I’m a big fan of citrus, so we used the Lemon oil to add a little kick to our Sunday roast chicken. Safe to say it was a hit, and we’ll be stocking up on these little bottles when they run out.
From something savoury to something sweet, this limited edition Bonne Maman Madeleine Christmas tin is quite simply perfect. The cakes are delicious, with hints of almond and vanilla combined in a classic buttery madeleine.
The perfect addition to cosy evening snuggled on the sofa watching Christmas films, we paired them with steaming hot chocolate after a very chilly Sunday afternoon dog walk.
For the home…
An cosy evening in wouldn’t be complete without a hot water bottle to keep you toasty, and this soft touch Sherpa fleece hot water bottle from Edinburgh Woollen Mill is ideal for hiding away from the horrid winter weather… so much so that Ruby seems to have claimed it for herself!
I often just pick up odd candles here and there, and I have to admit I have never tried a reed diffuser, so with that in mind the luxury moments collection from Arran Aromatics was a very welcome addition to our home.
Boasting a slightly spicy festive citrus scent, the aroma isn’t intrusive or overpowering, simply a pleasant background note. A welcome change from florals, this set would be a lovely gift for any home bird.
For anyone who is truly difficult to buy for, don’t panic, and have a browse through the vast array of magazine subscriptions on offer. A monthly magazine through the door is the gift which keeps on giving, and lets face it, anything that isn’t a bill is always going to be a nice surprise!
Christmas seems to have crept up on us quickly this year, almost disguised in the excitement and hubbub of our wedding. For us, missing Christmas was just unthinkable, so we booked a honeymoon with flights which ensured we’d be home safe and sound just in time for Christmas Eve.
The big day has finally arrived and we get married tomorrow! In a few short days I’ll be sipping cocktails sunning myself on a Jamaican beach, so I’ll be taking a blogging break for a couple of weeks.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, without any last minute shopping stresses!
