This Valentine’s Day is our first as husband and wife. We’ve been married for just a couple of months and it’s the first time I’ll be rooting out a ‘For my husband’ Valentine’s Day card from the card shop shelves.
My husband needs all the help he can get! His gift giving highlights include both a steam mop and what can best be described as an industrial dustpan and brush… yes I said I wanted both of those items, but I didn’t think that they would come gift wrapped on the morning of my birthday.
So for all those struggling to think of something special, here are a few hint and tips.
Rose Gold continues to be a huge trend for 2016, and this Horseshoe necklace is a signature piece for contemporary jewellery brand OneByOne. Similar styles have been worn by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Dakota Johnson, so your Valentine will certainly be in good company.
We’ve got an exciting few months on the horizon, so I’m hoping this horseshoe design brings me good luck!
For something a bit dressier, this classic marquise cut pendant from Brilliant Inc. is an elegant choice. The perfect partner to a little black dress, you can’t go wrong with a touch of sparkle. Wrapped with a very glamourous big red bow, this beautiful piece would be glamourous gift to give or receive.
Luxury cosmetics are always a welcome gift, and you certainly can’t go wrong with a spot of pampering. Walking our dogs in all sorts of weather conditions means my hair and skin can get dry, so I’m always excited to try anything which promises to moisturise. INFINatura Cura Oil has proved to be a god send, fortifying and enhancing my skin, hair and nails. A couple of drops go a long way and I’ve been keeping this little wonder bottle close by, keeping my skin well hydrated despite the horrific weather we’ve been having.
To give my hair an extra helping hand I’ve been lucky enough to try out Noir Caviar’s fantastic range of anti-aging hair products. The cleanser and moisturiser have done a fantastic job rejuvenating my locks and I can’t think of a better Valentine’s Day gift than a good hair day!
Candles are the perfect way to create a romantic atmosphere, and this pair from Yankee will help to make a romantic film night extra cosy. Beautifully scented and brightly coloured, any homebird will be happy to receive such lovely candles. We often prefer to stay in for Valentine’s day, so little touches such as this ensure the evening feels extra special.
Valentine’s Day is not just for the ladies, men deserve to be equally spoilt, and this Braun Series 3 Shaver is the perfect gift for my bearded husband. Showcasing high-quality, innovative and reliable design, Braun’s innovative new features aim to ensure each shave is close, comfortable and fast.
Thinking through the gifts he has given me, he’s obviously a fan of functional gadgets (Can a dustpan be classed as a gadget?) so I’m sure this razor will be a hit.
It’s the perfect time of year to embrace sweet treats, and you can’t go wrong with some chocolates for your significant other.
How about truly spoiling your other half with this Valentine’s Day classic, a Ferrero Rocher heart. Filled with instantly recognisable gold wrapped chocolates, this will definately a firm favourite in our house.
Equally delicious, the iconic design of Guylian chocolates always remind me of happy days spent at the seaside. My jewellery box is filled with small souvenir shells, and their chocolate counterparts are always a lovely treat. Often the most romantic gifts are rooted in fond memories, and if you can’t reminiscence on Valentine’s Day when can you?
Its safe to say you can’t go wrong with Krispy Kremes and they have a fantastic new range of cute little love bugs. A really decadent treat, a dozen of these would be the perfect gift for anyone for any occasion (Can you tell I’m a fan!) especially Valentine’s Day.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day Echo Falls have announced an exciting addition to their Fruit Fusions range – a Limited Edition Rose infused wine, perfect for the most romantic day of the year. This is delicious served chilled, and perfect served alongside a special homemade dinner (Hint hint Husband…)
Before my husband and I met, Valentine’s Day was a cocktail fuelled occasion, celebrated with friends. While times have changed, and going out on a week night has lost its appeal, I’ll always associate Valentine’s Day with working our way through many a cocktail menu.
Trying a Woo woo cocktail from the Poison Cocktails menu brought back many a memory. You simply add ice, shake and enjoy. Quick and convenient, these jars would be particularly perfect for a hen party.
For anyone who prefers something a little less sweet, I created a signature cocktail last Autumn which made the most of fruity flavours and Tanquaray gin. Definitely worth having a look if you’re keen to try out your Cocktail making skills this Valentine’s Day.
For our furry friends
Truly our best friends, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without treats for our little pups, and they don’t come cuter than these Bailey Bites Love Hugs from Barking Heads. As a general rule dog treats tend to be a bit beige, so its really refreshing to see a pop of colour in the pups treat jar. Naturally coloured with beetroot and strawberry, these treats are 100% natural and perfect for a special occasion.
I have to say I’m very intruiged to see what my husband will get me this Valentine’s Day… fingers crossed it isn’t housework related!
