Our homes are as personal as our wardrobes, with every piece carefully curated. A quick browse of Rightmove can prove controversial, with a sneaky peak of our neighbour’s homes leaving us questioning their sanity. How could they live with that carpet or those curtains? How can they live with so much clutter and does that neon wallpaper not give them a headache?
The truth is our homes are tailored to our own tastes, with one person’s cup of tea the nightmare of the next. This is where trends can come into question, with our immediate instincts determining whether we love or hate them.
With that in mind it is very rare for trends to cater directly to our individual tastes, but browsing through Homesense’s Spring Discovery Book may have well been written with just me in mind. Flicking through the pages I found myself nodding along, seeing my interior tastes highlighted through each key look.
Having recently moved house we immediately tackled both the lounge and our bedroom, but on the brink of exhaustion we decided to live with our plain and uninspiring bathroom for just a little while longer…
While it may never be our dream bathroom (Without an extensive amount of work and a considerably larger budget) it was easy to see how Homesense’s trends could offer a vast improvement, adding a few bits and bobs to tailor the space to our tastes. This weekend we’ll be visiting our local store at the Trafford Centre, discovering a few pieces to bring their trends to life in our own home.
The first trend we’ll be adding is perfectly placed for the bathroom, adding a touch of aquatic accents to the space. Nodding to nautical accessories, we’ll be scouring Homesense for copper and rope accents, accompanied by beautiful blue shades.
Continuing in a blue palette, striking and luxurious, Cobalt has to be my favourite trend from recent years. Dark and inky, this shade is the perfect way to add decadent depth, contrasting the bright white of our bathroom. Candles and towels are a great way to add these dramatic tones, and I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for statement accent pieces.
Bathrooms work hard in any home, they are expected to be a spa like sanctuary when a relaxing bath is needed, quickly transforming into a practical space allowing those pushed for time to get ready in a rush. For me, successful storage is crucial, tidying away the odds and ends. The third and final trend I’ll be re-creating in our bathroom, Swept Away, echoes my need for order. I’ll be hunting down wicker baskets to ensure everything is neatly concealed, ensuring any mess is minimal.
I’m a huge fan of Homesense, and I absolutely love having a good root round. Earlier this year we attended their #Lovefromfirstfind event, and I’m confident I’ll be finding a few more treasures this weekend.
Disclaimer: We have been sent a voucher from Homesense to help re-create their trends. We were under no obligation to love the trends, but as you can probably tell they were absolutely our cup of tea and perfect for our home.
