We haven’t got a mirror downstairs, and since our baby boy’s arrival nipping upstairs to have a quick glance at my reflection isn’t quite so easy. With that in mind we’re on the hunt for a mirror for our kitchen or lounge, if only just to check I haven’t got baby sick on my shoulder before leaving the house.
Over the last few months I’ve noticed more and more that bold statement mirrors are increasingly popular. Ornate and decadent, or industrial and a little bit different, they are the perfect finishing touch for any room. Positioned perfectly, they can make a room look bigger, even reflecting light to make it brighter.
Having a quick look online, as well as a vast choice of home accessories, Dandelion Interiors have a fantastic choice of beautiful mirrors.
Elegant and eye-catching, gold designs are ideal for living areas such as the lounge, and the flute design above would look perfect hung over a mantelpiece. Unfortunately, our fireplace extends above face height, so it wouldn’t be the most convenient place for a mirror to be hung with make-up checking in mind.
A little more difficult to incorporate, mirrors aren’t commonly found in the kitchen, but I think it would be the most practical solution for our home. An arch window style mirror as above can create the illusion of a window, particularly handy for rooms that aren’t blessed with much light from the great outdoors.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different, a mirror doesn’t have to be flat and featureless against a wall. Extra details such as shelves can be really useful, especially if you are positioning one for a quick check before you leave the house. I’m forever searching for my keys, so a handy place to leave them when I walk in the door would certainly save valuable time searching through bags and pockets to hunt them down.
With so many different designs on hand, we’re certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to the perfect statement mirror for our home.
