Our Family Diary: Full of Bugs

August 31, 2017

The last week has seen our baby boy turn four months old, and with it a whole set of new skills. As well as being very smiley he has the cutest giggle, and he can easily grab and hold onto his toys for a closer look.

He has rolled over just the once, and we can see that a little tooth is about to poke through. He can now sit up when supported by his high chair, and loves playing with the toys on the tray in front of him. While we won’t be weaning until he’s six months old, it’s so handy to pop him in it when I’m getting tea ready.

At Home

We’ve been spending a lot of time at home over the last week or so, with all of us full of a cold at some point. It was horrible seeing our baby boy so snuffly, but luckily, he seemed to bounce back quickly.

Very kindly, we were sent a gorgeous hamper from the Baby Box Company to help cheer us up. Beautifully wrapped, the ‘Pure White’ hamper includes the most gorgeous white sleepsuit and hat, along with a pair of bright white muslins.

As well as presents for baby there were also bath truffles included for me, which when dropped into a hot bath were the perfect way to recover from a cold.

The perfect gift for new parents, it’s full of useful products that you can never have enough of with a tiny baby to look after.

Out and about

Once we’d all recovered we headed to my parents in the Midlands for the bank holiday, making the most of the long weekend, catching up with family and friends.

Harry loved all the extra attention, and with the sun shining it was great to enjoy the garden and get plenty of fresh air.

How is Harry doing?

His third round of immunisations seemed to hit him a little harder, with a high temperature causing him to become quite unsettled. Thankfully, there are no more now until he is a year old.

He also has more of a bedtime routine in place, and seems to be so much happier for it. We also get to enjoy a little of the evening just the two of us, putting our feet up for a couple of hours before it’s time for us to get some sleep.

Teething aside he seems to be so happy and content, interested in everything, and starting to splash away and really enjoy his baths. I feel like we’ve both really hit our stride over the last week or so, and I’m really enjoying our days together.

How am I doing?

It’s definitely a case of happy mum equals happy baby, and with me feeling more relaxed Harry seems to be following my lead.

That’s not to say it’s all easy, but we’re in a bottle feeding routine now and the problems we had with breastfeeding seem like a distant memory.

I also had a little ego boost, and found out that I’ve been nominated for an Amara Interior Blog Award in the Best Interior Lifestyle category. Whoever nominated me, thank you so much, I’m very flattered to say the least.
