Choosing a new coffee table

October 5, 2017

Since moving to our cottage our coffee table has been a little on the rustic side… it’s basically a wicker basket with a wooden tray balance on top. While our slightly unorthodox arrangement has been just the job for the last year and a half, it’s quickly become clear that it’s not going to cut the mustard as our baby boy grows up and starts toddling about. Easily knocked over, we need something much sturdier.

Keen to find the perfect fit, I’ve been browsing through the Zurley’s website looking for inspiration. A family run business, offering an extensive range of furniture, I’ve come away with a shortlist showcasing three options.

Retro Marble

Pictured above, this is a bit of a frivolous flight of fancy. It clearly isn’t very family friendly, but I absolutely love the marble and brass combination. In a world where our lounge is a little more grownup and minimalist, this square coffee table would be my first choice.

Rustic Storage

The absolute opposite of the above marble number, this driftwood inspired beach house storage coffee table is practical as well as quirky. The opportunity to store away extra bits and bobs is very appealing, and it looks as though it would be weighty enough to stand its ground against an energetic toddler.

Country Cottage

A classic design, this coffee table would be the perfect fit for our home. In light grey it would even match our upcycled drawers. Offering a decent level of storage, we’d easily be able to stash away remotes, magazines and a pack of baby wipes (Always handy to have some close to hand) keeping the table top clear.

Having a baby changes everything, and now when choosing furniture we have to think with our heads as well as our hearts. Luckily as you can see Zurleys have plenty of options that satisfy both, looking beautiful as well as being practical and sturdy.

Which coffee table would you choose?
