Keen to take our new stroller for a spin, my husband surprised me with a trip to one of my favourite places for my birthday, the Garden Kitchen at Holden Clough nursery.
A truly beautiful spot, the afternoon tea really is something special. Presented prettily on a garden bench, the sweet and savoury treats have both style and substance.
With our little one made completely welcome, we enjoyed a relaxed hour, finishing every last morsel on our picnic bench. The savoury scone and egg custard tart were highlights for me, with my husband rating the pie and chocolate orange cake very highly!
There is also a very cute children’s size afternoon tea bench available, complete with a milkshake rather than fizz, which we’ll definitely be treating Harry to when he’s a little bit older.
Feeling fit to burst, we decided to have a little potter around the nursery itself, having a snoop around the plants.
Beautiful at this time of year, the nursery itself is full of stunning flowers and foliage. Presented in categories to keep everything in order. They’ve definitely expanded since our last visit two years ago, and there is so much to see.
With our cottage garden an ongoing work in progress, there were so many tempting plants to choose from. I couldn’t resist picking up a few pots of Auricula, and along with my purchase I was given some great tips for looking after them by the kind gentleman behind the till.
Our stroller was the perfect addition to our trip, and the sunshade definitely helped to keep Harry cool in the hot weather. I’ve mentioned before how much I love the colour, and it certainly wasn’t out of place amongst the beautiful yellow tulips!
A very lovely afternoon out, I’d absolutely recommend a trip out to the nursery and tea room. I hear they have plenty of plans for further expansion over the coming years, so we’ll definitely be back to see how they get on!
