As mentioned, a few months ago, I’ve been collecting Christmas books throughout the year, ready to create a book advent calendar for our little boy.
I’ve picked up books in the January sales, charity shops, and in pre-loved Facebook groups. I’ve not spent more than a few pounds for each one, and with December coming up quickly, I’m looking forward to putting them to good use.
With our toddler just one and a half, we’ve tried to get a good mix of board books as well as nostalgic Christmas classics we grew up with.
Some of the books are quite young, so they’ll probably only last another year. I’ll be keeping an eye out for replacements, making sure Harry’s book advent remains age appropriate as he gets older. We’re hoping it will be a Christmas tradition for many years to come!
Here’s a look at this year’s book advent calendar, ready to be wrapped up and opened in just a couple of weeks now…
The ‘That’s not my…’ books are a big favourite in our house, and we’ve spent many a morning flicking through them. The Christmas versions are just as cute, and I’m sure they’ll be equally well loved. ‘Dear Zoo’ is also a popular choice, so we had to pick up the Christmas version.
As most people will, I can remember reading the Jolly Christmas postman as a little girl, and I can’t wait to sit reading it with my own baby in the run up to Christmas day.
‘When’ by Emma Dodd is a new one to me, but the illustrations and words are beautiful, so I couldn’t resist buying it.
I’ve also picked up a few board books, lift the flap, and pop up books, which I’m sure will be very popular with our little one.
The most special Christmas book of all, of course our book advent calendar had to finish with ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ It’s such a lovely book to read just before bed, and we have a very special copy as part of Harry’s Christmas Eve box.
Beautifully presented, our Babybloom’s Christmas Eve Box is really something special. Both the illustration on the Christmas Eve box and plate can be personalised to your family or child’s name, making it even more exciting for little ones.
