Goodbye to our first home!

May 14, 2019

Our house officially belongs to someone else, and it is the strangest feeling! The home we moved into as newlyweds, celebrated so many occasions in, and brought our baby home to, is no longer ours. Our completion day seemed to arrive all of a sudden, and before we knew it, we were packed and saying goodbye.

There’s no time to mope around though, as we’re so happy to have found a new home to move into!

A bit of a whirlwind, we were getting a bit anxious about the housing market being particularly slow, so we decided to take matters into our own hands and post a few letters to the owners of homes we thought we would be interested in.

As luck would have it, our perfect house was just about to come on the market, and the owner invited us to come and have a look. It’s safe to say we were blown away, and put in an offer as soon as we were back home.

A little while ago I wrote down our hopes for a new home, and the house we are buying fulfils every single one! We keep pinching ourselves, as we’re not sure how we have got so lucky!

At the moment our searches are in progress, so it will probably be another 4-6 weeks until we pick up our keys. In the meantime, our possessions are in storage, and we’re living with my parents until our purchase completes. We’re so excited to enjoy our new forever home, enjoy the remaining sunny months of this year settled at last.

Moving has felt like a long process, and from putting our house on the market, to moving into our new home, it’ll have taken around seven months. We were lucky to sell our cottage quite quickly, so I’m well-aware that isn’t all that long!

We loved our first family home, but are very excited to see what the future brings in our next one. We learnt such a lot rennovating and decorating our first home, that we’re ready to put all those skills into practice again. Here’s a few photos of our favourite rooms from our cottage, which may just inspire our upcoming plans….

Over the next month we’re going to enjoy the brief break from packing and unpacking, and hopefully make the most of some sunshine! I don’t think you’ll be surprised to hear I have some already have some plans in motion for the new house and garden, so keep a look out for some moodboards in the next week or two! I’m particularly excited about a new bedroom for a certain little boy….
